Velma is the epitome of sweetness. She came to us in Chapel Hill, North Carolina from a shelter in rural Georgia after being found as a stray. At first she was scared of the tv and sliding doors, but it did not take her long to come out of her shell and get integrated into the home.
Although a timid lady, she has quickly warmed up to every person, dog, cat, and horse (not chickens) she’s met. Everyone has immediately fallen in love with her gentle spirit and soft coat.
Velma is generally a good listener and is eager to learn. She rarely barks, and when she does it’s usually a very adorable delicate howl, eats well, plays gently with toys, and doesn’t seem to be toy or food aggressive. She appreciates an early bedtime. Her foster siblings are as introverted as her foster mom, and she has been very respectful, and perhaps appreciative, of their boundaries.
Since completing her heart worm treatment and being given free rein of the yard, her main passions have been obsessively hunting for skinks in the garden and running on the trails.
Velma is a strong and healthy woman ready to take on the world with her forever family! She would do well in a home that gives her plenty of exercise as well as space for calm and quiet reflection.
Velma is up to date on vaccines and has been spayed and microchipped.
