Hi, I’m Sally. I am a petite, athletic girl weighing in at 44 pounds (ideal weight 44-46). I love making people happy and everyone says I’m a great dog, even the vet said my forever family will be lucky to have a dog like me!No one knows much about my past life, but let me tell you, I am trying really hard to do my best at this new life living in a house. I am working on learning my name, basic commands, potty training, and all the do’s and don’ts of house life. My foster mom says I’m smart and cooperative even with nail trims! 

I am really good in my crate and show no signs of anxiety or previous trauma. I LOVE crinkly soft toys, chew toys and treats! I also love to hunt and have a very high prey drive, (no cats in my new home please); however, I went to the heart doctor and I’ve learned that I will need to be careful with exertion so as not to put unnecessary strain on my heart. They had very big words for this (Moderate Degenerative Valve Disease & Low Normal Systolic Function) but what I know is that I have a grade 3 murmur and will need to be on medications the rest of my life and will have to go see the nice heart doctor twice per year. 

After my first visit, my foster mom helped me do what my doctor recommended. We changed my diet. I started medication (Pimobendan) and a 2x daily supplement (taurine). My foster mom is also helping me learn how to channel my strong hunting drive/skills in other ways. If not for my heart, I would run and hunt with abandon for hours on end. A fenced yard and leash walks would be best for me. I am great at being a solo dog; however, if I do get fur siblings, it would be best if they are lower energy, since I need to keep my exertion levels low. 

My next heart doctor appointment is around Thanksgiving. At that appointment, we’ll know more about my long-term prognosis including my activity restrictions. 

Outside of cats and other small animals, I have done really well meeting other dogs and even horses! I love running errands with my foster mom. I’ve also taken many road trips and have learned that I love to travel. I do very well in new environments with the support of my human. Would you be my forever road trip buddy? I just know that I have so much to offer my forever family and I sure hope someone gives me a chance to show them what a great girl I am.
