Hi everyone! I’m Orville! I was found as a stray in North Carolina, but my luck changed when I found my foster paw-rents in PA. Shortly after arriving, I had three seizures and my foster mom rushed me to the vet. I have been taking one pill, twice a day and have been seizure FREE for two months! The vet says I have idiopathic epilepsy, but this is only one little part of me, there is so much more to explore, I hope you keep reading!
My absolute favorite toys are… well… everything! Plushies, bones, ropes—if it exists, I love it. And snacks? Oh, don’t get me started. My perfect afternoon involves sunbathing, digging cozy dirt holes, and stalking birds at the feeder. They’re fast, but I’m patient!
I currently live with human siblings (ages 2-14) and a resident German Shorthaired Pointer sister. We play tag constantly. She’s lightning-fast and I’m a bit clumsy, it keeps all my family laughing. My foster parents work, so I happily chill in my crate during the day. I am still very much a puppy and explore everything with my mouth, so it is best for me to stay in a safe space when not supervised. I even get a special midday treat and potty break. Because supervision is still very important for me for many reasons, a yard with a fence would be best in my new home. Next up: meeting a ‘cat’… whatever that is!”*
Big, loud, new environments can sometimes overwhelm my senses. My ideal home will provide a cozy, quiet “safe zone” or crate where I can willingly retreat to decompress when life gets too busy. I am looking forward to learning lots of new tricks and training with my new family. I am working on leash training and could even be a really great hunting dog if someone would be willing to teach me! And most of all, I am looking for my humans who will want to snuggle me every chance they get, because I LOVE that, A LOT!
I know I am a very special dog, do you think you could be my very special human?
