Mandy (FKA Gabby) found herself in a SC Shelter on the euthanasia list when PRO learned about her situation. I picked up this girl on May 6th, and she has made some amazing strides already!

Mandy does well in the car and after a bath, being fed, and a good night’s sleep a new happy pup emerged that just wants to be loved and to love you back. She is 36 pounds and 20.5 inches height at the shoulders. House training is going very well, and she will run to the door to go outside.

This Bio is being written two weeks since she joined my household. I have never experienced such a transformation in a dog in so little time before. Mandy has learned many commands in this short time frame. Off, No, Wait, Easy, OK, Stop, Sit, Go Potty, Outside, No Noise, In Your House, Wipe your Muddy Toesies. She has turned into a real joy to have in our home!

Jumping on counters and people was one of her biggest offenses, but she has learned quickly this is not acceptable. My biggest challenge is calming her down due to energy packed into this little body. To combat this, I will hold her and tell her EASY while petting her slowly. It is my opinion that Mandy would do best in a calmer household without little children.

Mandy needs plenty of exercise to calm her down. A fenced in yard and another dog to play with would be her ideal forever home. She loves to play with toys, Tug, and Chuck-It and brings back the ball to you and knows the word ‘Give’.

‘In Your House’ is the command I use to have her go into her crate. She keeps her crate clean, and I have left her up to 6 hours without any problems, Mandy will go in the crate on her own for a nap, and is fed in the crate. She sleeps through the night.

‘No Noise’ I will have to say when she is barking at something, which is seldom.

‘Wait’ is the most used command I’m using with her. She needs to slow down! I will tell her ‘Wait’ when I will be opening a door to let her outside, ‘Wait’ when getting out of the car, kennel or crate, ‘Wait’ when letting her into the house so I can wipe off her Muddy Toesies. Then I’ll say ‘OK’ to release her.

She loves her one-on-one time with her morning snuggles. She tends to gently mouth me during this time, so this is something I will continue to work on.

Mandy walks well on her lead, but is ready to chase after birds, squirrels and bunnies! More consistent training will make Mandy a wonderful addition to your family.
