Hi, I’m Sally. I am 5 1/2 years old, a petite girl weighing in at 37 pounds (and gaining!). I love making people happy and everyone says I’m a great dog, even the vet said my forever family will be lucky to have a dog like me!
No one knows much about my past life, but let me tell you, I am trying really hard to do my best at this new life living in a house. I am working on learning my name, basic commands, potty training, and all the do’s and don’ts of house life. But I do have to say, I really love finding the goodies on top of the counters, but since counter surfing is frowned upon, I’m trying to resist temptation. My foster mom insists I tell you that she suspects if no one is paying attention, I might give it a try again one day. My foster mom is constantly monitoring me. She doesn’t admit this but my foster mom is as serious of a helicopter parent as I’m a hunter!
I am really good in my crate and show no signs of anxiety or previous trauma. I LOVE toys, chew, and treats! I also love to hunt and have a very high prey drive, (no cats in my new home please); however, I went to the heart doctor and I’ve learned that I will need to be careful with exertion so as not to put unnecessary strain on my heart. They had very big words for this (Moderate Degenerative Valve Disease & Low Normal Systolic Function) but what I know is that I have a murmur and will need to be on medications the rest of my life and will have to go see the nice heart doctor twice per year. There are other changes that my foster mom is helping me with like changing my diet and giving me supplements. My foster mom is also helping me learn how to channel my energy in other ways instead of running and hunting for hours on end, which is why a fenced yard and leash walks would be best for me. I am also great being a solo dog; however, if I do get fur siblings, it would be best if they are lower energy since I need to keep my exertion levels low.
Outside of cats and other small animals, I have done really well meeting other dogs and even horses! I’ve also got to take many road trips and have learned that I love to travel and do very well in new environments with the support of my human. Would you be my forever road trip buddy? I just know that I have so much to offer my forever family and I sure hope someone gives me a chance to show them what a great girl I am.
