My name is Teddy or Teddy Bear as I prefer to be called. Like most teddy bear’s I am adorable, soft, cuddly, and love a good hug. Unfortunately, I have other things in common with my toy counterpart. Like many other teddy bears that get thrown out when their human gets too old; I was also put out in a box on the side of the road to fend for myself. Luckily I was found and taken to safety and PRO sent me to a foster home. In my foster home they found out I was heartworm positive and that I would need extra love and care while I went through treatment. I’m now on the mend and feeling much better which means it is time to find my forever home.
I am currently in a foster home with a little human, five other dogs, one cat, three goats, and chickens. I have been able to integrate with the entire pack. I am exuberant in my play and am learning to play/interact appropriately with dogs of all ages. I love chewing on bones and playing with tennis balls. My foster mom says I look like a kangaroo bouncing around the house chasing tennis balls, it must be quite the sight! Oh, speaking of kangaroo’s, I also like to bounce out of fence’s like one too! I would do best in a home with a 6’ fence or be on lead until I can get more training. My foster mom says she would steer away from dog parks unless they had high fences and were very secure.
I do well with the cat when I am in rest mode, but can get very silly and playful with her and need reminders to be gentle from my foster mom. The chickens and goats stay on the other side of the fence. I’d probably do best in a home without those pesky feathered creatures.
I’ve realized that living in a home is all new and exciting for me. It’s becoming less scary and I am becoming more curious about the world around me. I like to have my space to feel safe and now I explore by peeking my head around corners to see what everyone is doing. I get really excited when my family calls my name, “Teddy Bear”, and I come running! I’ve come a long way in my foster home, but will need an understanding and patient family as I continue to learn about indoor living and all the new things and noises that come along with that. I’m hoping they will shout out, “Teddy Bear” and even give me hugs!
My foster mom says I am a very smart bear and I already know lots of commands and continue to work on them everyday. I am almost off exercise restriction from my heartworm treatment and I am very excited to be a fast bear again!
I just know my forever family is out there looking for the smartest, bravest, cutest Teddy Bear.
