I’m Brighton; foster mom calls me Bright Boy. She says that’s because my smiley face can light up a room. I think it’s also because I’m pretty smart.
I was left at a shelter, and even though I didn’t know why, and I was so bored and unhappy there, I still kept my cheerful demeanor. I was definitely a staff favorite. Staff found PRO and after four months, I got to go to my foster home.
I haven’t lived in a house before, but I figured it all out really quickly. Sofa is soft, and if I roll over on my back on a sofa, someone will come over and rub my belly. Kitchen is where all the best smells are, and if I keep “four on the floor,” I usually get a taste of whatever smells so good. My bed and crate are super comfy, and I like to go there to rest in the evening. The door is open so I can come out and see if maybe foster mom needs some attention and a soft nose in her lap. I was only neutered a few months ago, so I still sometimes forget myself and think about lifting my leg indoors. But the whole inside/outside thing is starting to make sense to me, and I am getting so much better about that.
I have a lot of energy. They said I am a “senior.” Foster mom says, “More like a senior in high school.” But I have a good recall, and getting better all the time, so I get to do a lot of running. That’s one of my favorite things, running and following sniffs and exploring all the new places. As long as we get to go do that for a few hours a day, I am tired and mostly sleep and snuggle all evening.
I like every person I have ever met. I go right up and say, Hi, and then sit nicely so they can pat me and say how beautiful I am. I also like all the dogs. One dog was very extremely bouncy, and I had to woof at her, but that was all. I play nicely with my foster sisters.
I ride well in the car and love to go for car rides. Really you can take me everywhere. And I hope you will.
From Foster Mom- Brighton is a gem of a boy. Those soulful brown eyes will stare right into yours, and you know you have a friend for life. He is good with other dogs but could be an only dog if he got to spend all his time with his family. He is the best companion, ready to go anywhere, happy to ride along, happy to wait in the car, fun to train and work with and a great hiking buddy. Don’t be fooled by his stated age, he has a lot of energy and needs an outlet for that. He is so cheerful and attentive, you can’t not love him. And that’s all he wants, love, some romps and maybe a bite of your sandwich.
