Introducing Copper, a six-year-old orange and white pointer with the sweetest and gentlest personality. Copper arrived at PRO in July of 2025 after being pulled to foster from a shelter in Iowa. He is a handsome boy with big, orange patches and an adorably unique nose featuring what we fondly call his “cow spots”.

Copper’s playful, gentle nature and sweet demeanor make him the perfect companion. He is very affectionate and loves his people, often leaning in for pets and snuggles. Copper settled into our household routine with ease, becoming housebroken on his very first day! He took to his crate immediately and remains quiet and well-behaved while inside and overnight.

This adaptable pup would thrive as either a single dog or a part of a pack. He was happily snuggling with his foster sister within hours of his arrival and enjoys a good wrestling match or game of tug-of-war. He fits right in at dog daycare and was a gentleman at the dog park.

Copper is making great progress with his training, thanks to his strong food motivation. He has already mastered commands like “sit”, “down”, and “kennel up” in a short span of time. He is learning his loose-leash manners and progressing quickly on a harness. While he’s not particularly “birdy,” he does show some curiosity about rabbits. He’s quickly learning to distinguish between his toys and our shoes, but is quite gentle and has not damaged a single thing.

When it comes to other pets, Copper is non-reactive to other dogs and seemed indifferent when encountering a few cats at the vet’s office, though he hasn’t been officially cat-tested. Like many Pointers, Copper can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but he quickly warms up. He has been calm in the presence of children, enjoying a few gentle pets at an outdoor restaurant patio. He hasn’t been officially kid-tested but could be arranged if needed.

Copper is learning that car rides lead to fun activities, so once settled in a vehicle, he is content. Health-wise, he’s in great shape and feeling even better after a recent dental procedure!
