Buddy – 2 years old, located in NC
PRO ID #: 241432-P-D-NC
Intake Date: 12/23/2024
Available Date: 4/1/25

Buddy is an approximately 2-year-old Pointer (~DOB 11-1-22) who came to PRO from a shelter in Eastern NC just before Christmas 2024. He has been neutered and he just completed heartworm treatment and will be ready for adoption the first week of April.

Buddy is an energetic and athletic Pointer who also loves human attention and affection. He has a fantastic temperament and is great with people of all ages, other dogs and he would be ok in a home with a dog-savvy cat (foster home has a cat who is very dog friendly and young who makes herself scarce when Buddy is running around).
Buddy is crate-trained and housebroken. He does tend to have an accident in his crate periodically but with an established routine I am confident those occasional accidents would cease. He loves walks and is still learning not to pull (even though he wears a “no-pull” harness). On walks he is very friendly with humans and dogs he meets. He is a ball and toy lover. He doesn’t always bring a ball back but he loves to chase and pick them up.
Buddy may be too exuberant for very young children because he might knock a toddler down although he is smart and could be trained quickly not to jump on a small child.
If you are looking for a great Pointer with strong bird instincts who also loves his family Buddy may be the dog for you.
He now weighs 45 up from 41 when first rescued. He could probably ideally weigh 48-50.
